Hans van der Vliet is a medical oncologist and associate professor at the department of medical oncology of the VU University medical center-Cancer Center Amsterdam. He received his MD from the University of Amsterdam in 1998 and his PhD (cum laude) and internal medicine specialization in medical oncology from the VU University in Amsterdam. He performed post-doctoral research at the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School.
